Two clutches

December 4, 2010
I have two new clutches starting to hatch this week. Zeus and Violet's chicks are going to be going into the large cage with the rest of the birds soon. Violet isn't letting the chicks in the nest anymore. She had decided to lay another clutch. Dusty and Bell's eggs have hatched and they now have four little pink chicks. As for weaned chicks I still have three of Prince and Violet's chicks for sale.

Chcicks

November 14, 2010
Zeus/prince and Violet's chicks are doing great. The first is a grey dominant pied this is prince's chick it is significantly smaller than the other chicks. The second is huge compared to the first. It's a sky blue violet dominant pied spangle. I got excited when I say it's wing feathers coming in, I thought I had a half sider but his wings are just different. One is 50% marked and the other just has a couple markings. The third chick is what I was waiting for a little albino girl. I will be ...

New update

October 21, 2010
Horus and Ginger's chicks are growing up fast as always. The oldest chick has learned how to get in and out of the nest. She also has found the food dish. The other two think the nest is their safe haven and haven't ventured out just yet.

Willow and Storm's chicks are feathering out nicely. They still have a bunch of baby fluff left though. One is recessive pied and the other is normal grey violet and may even be opaline.

Prince decided he had had enough feeding Violet so I gave him a break a...

Chicks and eggs and more chicks

September 16, 2010
Well a lot has happened at the aviary. I only have two chicks left from Horus and Gingers clutch. One albino and one lutino. They are great little chicks they love to be around people. If you are interested in either of these chicks please contact me.

As for Prince and Violet. Their chicks are doing just fine. The two oldest chicks know how to get in and out of the cage. I think they are also eating by themselves but I haven't caught them actually eating yet. The two youngest know how to...

The three clutches

August 30, 2010
As for the younger chicks Prince and Violet have four beautiful dominant pied chicks. They are all doing fine and their belly's are always full. Apollo and Liberty have three chicks. I think they are all going to be green. The females will be opaline and the males will be normal. And last but not least Diego and La fiesta have one chick and two eggs. I'm not sure the eggs with hatch but we will see.

Chick photos

August 30, 2010
Horus and Ginger's chicks are all doing great. They are feeding themselves and climbing all over the cage. When I the chicks out of the cage they try to climb as high as they can to see their new surroundings. I'm starting to teach them the command UP. This makes it easy to take them out of their cage. Here are some photos. If you look at the lutino females you can see they are also dominant pied. Look closely at the white in their wings.

Chicks

August 24, 2010
Horus and Ginger's chicks have started to get out of the nest. They have found the food dish. The only problem is they don't know how to get back in to the nest. So when they are ready to go back in the nest they twitter until I put them back in.

As for the other chicks they are just starting to open their eyes. All is well at the aviary.

Chicks

August 20, 2010
La fiesta and Diego have three eggs. I candled them today and all three are fertile. Now we will se if they hatch in the coming weeks. Storm and Willows eggs where duds but they are taking cage of four out of the five of Horus and Ginger's chicks. Prince and Violet have five chicks all of their eggs have hatched. We will see if all of the chicks make it. There is about a week between the oldest and youngest chick. This sometimes makes it hard for the smaller chicks to survive. Apollo and Libe...
