Billy and Annie's nest

Billy and Annie now have four eggs in their nest. Annie hardly gets out of the nest, she hardly needs to because Billy is so attentive.

Eddy and Alba's nest

Eddy and Alba have four chicks and five eggs in their nest. A couple of chicks died in the eggs. They had started cutting through the egg shell but just didn't have the energy.

This is Billy and Annie's first time breeding. They are bonded and have been in a breeding cage for a while now. Today I opened the nest to find their first egg. Annie has been sitting on it none stop. Billy has been doing a great job feeding her.

Three chicks

January 30, 2012

Two eggs hatched this morning. One of them is Eddy and Alba's chick the other is Petey and Stella's. One of them has red eyes the other has dark eyes. When they get older I will be able to tell what chick belongs to what pair because Eddy and Alba's chick will be a larger American English mix.

Last mixed clutch of the season

January 28, 2012

Three breeding pairs decided to lay more eggs. This clutch was Petey and Stella's along with Dusty and Bell's third clutch. I don't let my pairs breed for a third time. It is just too much stress on a pair. I put Petey, Stella, Dusty and Bell back in my large flight cage. So I put all their eggs in with Eddy and Alba. This is their second clutch and they welcomed the other pairs eggs.

The chicks are almost ready to go

I have starting to move down the waiting so if you are on it please check your e-mails and phone messages. The chicks are all feathered out and I have to say this season produced a rainbow of colors and personalities. I have decided to keep two female chicks. One albino and another opaline, violet.

Dusty and Bell's nest

They have seven of their own chicks and are taking very good care of Otis and Athena's chick.

Eddy and Alba's nest

They have four chicks in their nest.

Petey and Stella's nest

They have six chicks they are taking care of.

I have started to hand feed and tame all the chicks.

Dusty and Bell's nest
Otis and Athena's chick is starting to perch on the inside rim of the nest box when it wants to be fed. It looks like their chick's mutation will be Sky blue,spangle, dominant pied. She is also taking care of six of her own chicks. The two oldest look like they are going to be recessive pieds but I'm not sure about the other ones. We will have to wait and see.

Chick update

Otis and Athena's nest

Their chick has been rehomed again in Bell's nest.

Zeus and Violet's nest

The eggs that where in Violet's nest where all duds. After I took the bad eggs out she started pecking Otis and Athena's chick. So I rehomed it again to Bell's nest.

Dusty and Bell's nest

Bell is sitting on four chicks so far along with Otis and Athena's chick. They also have three eggs.

Chick update second round

November 25, 2011

Otis and Athena's nest
Their first egg has hatched. After I cleaned her nest for the first time she wasn't sitting on her eggs. After she wasn't feeding her chick anymore I decided to rehome their chick and eggs into Violet's nest.
